Instructions:

1. Till the area to be seeded with tall fescue so that all weeds are removed and the top 3 to 4 inches of soil is loosened.
2. Mix a starter fertilizer into the tilled soil, then compact the soil.
3. Sow a uniform layer of 6 to 8 lbs. of tall fescue seed per 1,000 square feet of ground.
4. Cover the grass seed with a thin layer of soil and compact the seeded area again.
5. Water the seeded area daily for the first 14 to 21 days to germinate the seeds, then cut back on the water to every other day, then every three days.
6. Fertilize 30 days after planting with 1 lb. of nitrogen-based fertilizer per 1,000 square feed of ground.
7. Mow the tall fescue when it reaches a height of 3 inches. Reduce the grass height to 2 inches and maintain this height for optimum tall fescue health.
8. Fertilize twice more during the growing season at the same rate of 1 lb. of nitrogen-based fertilizer per 1,000 square feet of ground.
9. Remove all weeds and other grasses that infiltrate the tall fescue planting to keep the invaders from choking out the tall fescue grass.
