At TLC Safety By Design, we’ve created a collection of smart and fun products designed to help keep you and your loved ones (both the 2 and 4-legged variety) safe. I originally started my pet sitting business, Tender Loving Care Pet Care Company in 2014. Since I was a graphic designer for many years, I created a card to give out to clients with my business name and phone number: “My Pets Are Home Alone” Emergency ID cards. My clients loved those cards! They would even ask for extras to give to friends and family! Based on glowing enthusiasm from friends and clients, I was encouraged to start selling them online. Since their beginning, I have expanded my offerings to include plastic cards with key tags, magnets, emergency decals and eventually products for adults and children. When people started buying our products, the responses have been “Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I’ve never even thought about that. The peace of mind this card provides is priceless!” My DOG Is HOME ALONE Pet Alert Emergency ICE ID Plastic Wallet Card and Key Tag ENSURE YOUR PETS’ AND YOUR OWN PROTECTION & SAFETY: If you are ever in a situation where you are hurt and can’t speak, this card and key tag will do the talking for you. First responders can alert your contact people that you are hurt and that your pets are home alone. We hope you never have to use your card, but when you’re prepared for urgent situations, it makes all the difference for your family and pets! FULLY WRITABLE SURFACE ON THE BACKS: Since the card contains information that lists any medical condition(s) or allergies you may have, blood type and medications that you take, first responders will be alerted so that they can perform treatment without compromising your health. FOR BEST RESULTS, PLEASE FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. SHARPIE ULTRA FINE PERMANENT MARKERS WORK BEST. They will make your text dark and crisp without any rub off. Other markers or pens may not work as well. Wait for ink to dry a few minutes before putting away in your wallet. TIP: For extra protection, put tape over the written area of the key tag to ensure no rub off with occur. WHAT INSPIRED TLC SAFETY BY DESIGN TO START A BUSINESS? My inspiration was two-fold. As I had previously mentioned, I designed the “Home Alone” cards as a promo to be given to new pet sitting clients. What precipitated that was when a friend was involved in a bad car accident. Unconscious, she was unable to give the EMTs any information, including the fact that her dog was home alone. No one knew that she was in the hospital, let alone that her beloved fur baby had no one to give him food or walk him. Luckily, she was not hurt too bad and was able to give the hospital staff her information the next day. As I pondered this, I thought to myself what would have happened if she were not able to speak for an extended period? That was when inspiration struck. I conceived and created the first version of the “My Pets Are Home Alone” cards. Since then, they have been through a few different incarnations, ending up as the latest version with the plastic card with matching key tag. I am constantly brimming with new ideas - many of them are still in my head, waiting for time and money to develop into viable products. We firmly believe in adoption of shelter animals and give support to all of the time, sacrifices and effort that volunteer rescuers make. A portion of the proceeds get donated to Matilda the Algonquin Cat's Annual Fundraiser (pictured above). Past fundraising recipients have included Bideawee, North Shore Animal League and Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals. Woodbridge Animal Shelter and Angel Paws have also received generous donations of money and food from our past fundraising efforts. Whenever an animal charity asks, we usually don't ever say "no."

On the back of the key tag, there is a place to fill out your name, your emergency contact persons name and a notice that you carry a card with more info.
- NEW UPDATED DESIGN! 100% MADE IN THE U.S.A. 30 MIL TESLIN PLASTIC (Thickness comparable to a shopper club card). High gloss front with a writable matte plastic surface on the back. New printing techniques allow writing with either a ballpoint pen or Sharpie ultrafine point permanent marker (gel pens are not recommended). Instructions for preserving your card and tag are included. Card size is 3 3/8" x 2 1/8". Key tag size is 2 1/8" x 1".
