Highest Quality Beechwood has brass wear strips on the rubbing face. 1 side is for marking mortices and has a sliding adjustment mechanism. The other side has a single pin which allows the tool to be used as a traditional marking gauge. Thumbscrew locking mechanism. Overall size is approximate 7-3/4". It has 1 pin set in the stem for marking a single line parallel to the edge of the board. The second side of the tool is used for marking mortises. It has 2 pins: 1 fixed in the stem, and the other on an adjustable brass bar. To use, adjust the spacing between the pins to the size of your mortise.
