Adding our cholla cave will help your betta thrive and be well. Does It Need Some Prep Before Adding To My Tank? When you receive your product, we recommend soaking it in water for a few hours as it may carry dust and debris in transit. Now before putting it in your tank, please bake the product till dry. Gradually, you will notice it will soak up water and it will settle down at the bottom. It may take a few week’s time before settling. I Have Shrimp, Would They Like SunGrow’s Cholla Cave? Absolutely! Shrimp fry love to hide in the cholla and it keeps them away from predatory adults. Adult shrimp will love to free-range graze on the cholla wood or hide there as they shed their shells. Plecos and snails love to nibble and nap inside our caves. Birds and mammals love our cholla wood caves, too. Budgies, lovebirds, and finches love to trim their beaks with a satisfying chew on our cholla wood.
